Description

In this thesis, I question, reflect on, and navigate the cultural and societal challenges

women face in Iran through my oil paintings. I create visual narratives with archetypal

imagery depicting women's multifaceted experiences. Using symbolic imagery and

composition, I strive to capture the nuanced essence of their struggles and triumphs. In doing

so, I hope to expand the conversation on gender equality beyond the canvas and create

positive change. This thesis explores my engagement with women's movements, scrutinizing

ongoing events in Iran and drawing attention to the challenges confronted by women in this

sociocultural landscape. In my artistic practice, I combine modern and traditional techniques

to craft compositions that delve into the emotional depths of human experience. Iranian

women's resilience, immigration, identity, and activism are central motifs in my work. I

endeavor to amplify the voices of those confronting oppression by incorporating symbolism

into the visual narrative. By juxtaposing elements of darkness and light, confinement, and

liberation, my art seeks to ignite conversations about the pursuit of justice and equality,

echoing the courage and defiance of those who dare to challenge the status quo. Through this

exploration, I strive to shed light on the ongoing fights for women's rights and broader

human rights in Iran. I hope to invoke empathy and introspection in viewers to foster

solidarity in the global pursuit of social change.
